HISTORIA

Rick Jones es un joven normal y corriente. Lo único que le hace relevante es su intensa unión con el mundo súperheroico. Fue culpable del nacimiento de Hulk, ya que el joven Jones estaba en medio del campo de pruebas para ganar una apuesta, y aunque salvado de la bomba Gamma por Bruce Banner, Hulk nació. En los comienzos fue el compañero de Bruce/Hulk. Poco después sería una parte determinante en la formación del grupo de superhéroes Los Vengadores donde estuvo un tiempo ayudándoles para acabar siguiendo al Capitán América, buscando ser su compañero de aventuras y una especie de segundo Bucky, en contra de lo que opinaba el centinela de la libertad, que no quería tener compañeros sin experiencia.

Más tarde, Rick encontró las nega-bandas, unos brazaletes dorados que tenían una conexión empática directa con otras, en posesión de superhéroe de raza Kree, el Capitán Marvel, encerrado en un mundo conocido como la Zona Negativa. Cuando Rick hacía entrechocar sus nega-bandas se intercambiaba con el Capitán Marvel para que este pudiera defender la Tierra. Ambos estaba unidos por un enlace empático gracias a las negabandas que les permitían sentir lo que sentía el otro.

Durante años fue el compañero de Mar-Vell, corriendo aventuras como la Guerra Kree-Skrull, dónde el joven Rick pone fin a dicha guerra utilizando la Fuerza del destino por primera vez, con la ayuda de la Inteligencia Suprema Kree, luchando contra Thanos, y en definitiva aventuras por todo el universo.

Tras la muerte del Capitán Marvel, Rick quedó libre, y fue compañero de Rom, o volvió a ser un habitual en la vida de Bruce Banner.

En esto, Rick sufre una transformación y durante unos números se transforma él mismo en otro Hulk, facultad que le fue robada por el Líder, que había perdido su radiación Gamma.

En esto pasan cosas, como que conoce a Marlo y se casa con ella, se une al Panteón, lucha en la Guerra de Trans-Abal. Además, cuando muere Marlo por culpa de una señora que se hizo pasar por su madre, intenta resucitarla, pero ni el Dr. Extraño, Henry Pym o Reed Richards pueden hacer algo, pero el Líder sí, ya que tiene una extraña empatía con él por tener radiación suya.

Tras desunirse en panteón, se va a vivir con Marlo, rodando una serie de TV, Viviendo con los Jones. Años después Hulk le rompe la espalda a Rick, dejándole en silla de ruedas hasta que fue llamado a actuar en las Guerras del Destino, donde vuelve a ser una pieza clave y vuelve a utilizar la Fuerza Destino. Al finalizar este suceso se vio enlazado de nuevo a las nega-bandas, pero esta vez para unirse empáticamente a Genis-Vell (Capitán Marvel II), hijo del Capitán Marvel original, uno de los Vengadores del Futuro de las guerras del Destino.   Tras todo esto, ahora Rick, enlazado con Genis, pero ahora haciendo el papel del hombre con experiencia, y aconsejando a Genis. Juntos se enfrentarán a enemigos como Hulk, El Wendigo, Drax el destructor (donde por un cruce con sus brazaletes, acaban en el microverso, y desde entonces el intercambio será con el microverso, y no la zona negativa),o el Superskrull.

Más tarde se uniría a Thanos y se enfrentaría al Caminante, un dios de la muerte que perseguía a su esposa, Marlo, porque en ella se había ocultado el espíritu de la Muerte. Como resultado del enfrentamiento entre Rick y El Caminante, Rick perdió un brazo y se vio envejecido prematuramente por los poderes del dios oscuro. Aunque más tarde, con la ayuda de la Inteligencia Suprema Kree, Genis viaja a la Zona Negativa para conseguir un remedio para el envejecimiento de Rick. Poco después visitará junto con Genis futuros tratados por Peter David, como el del Spider-man 2099 o el futuro del Maestro (Hulk), donde se enfrentarán a una versión alternativa de Rick Jones, dónde este, tras la Guerra Kree Skrull, se quedó con la Inteligencia Suprema Kree para aprender a utilizar la Fuerza del destino, y estaba recolectando objetos de diferentes épocas para conseguir un gran poder, aunque con la ayuda del Rick anciano de ese futuro, y el martillo de Thor, vencerán.

Marlo, tras los sucesos con el espíritu de la Muerte, sentirá una extraña atracción por Dragón Lunar, y vivirán juntas un tiempo. Por otro lado, Genis parece estar a punto de controlar su consciencia cósmica, pero sin embargo, acabará por volverle loco. Por todo ello, Rick queda encerrado en el Microverso, y se dedicará a buscar una manera de volver a la Tierra. Durante la época de locura de Genis, Rick volverá a su carrera musical en el Microverso, con gran éxito y (mientras Genis se une al ejército Kree) se encontrará con Epifanía y Entropía, los hijos de Eternidad. Genis ayuda a estos a destruir el Universo, aunque acabarán por recrearlo. Tras estos sucesos, la relación entre Genis y Rick mejorará, y este ya volverá de vez en cuando a la Tierra, donde se enfrentará a Coven, un asesino en serie.

Tras un tiempo, Genis recupera por fin la cordura, y Rick y Genis se verán metidos en una aventura en el tiempo para salvar a Marlo, dónde Genis tendrá que matar a su hijo del futuro con Pájaro Cantor. Tras esto Rick volverá con Marlo, Dragón Lunar y Pyhla-Vell se irán a correr aventuras, y Genis se unirá a los Nuevos Thunderbolts.

Las siguientes apariciones de Rick han sido como el “patrocinador” de Excelsior/The Looners, grupo surgido en las páginas de Runaways.

En el futuro se le volverá a ver tras Civil War en los sucesos ocurridos en el cómic del Capitán America y en World War Hulk.

Recientemente subvencionó las actividades del grupo de jóvenes héroes de la Costa Oeste, Excelsior. A los cuales envió a sacar de las calles de Los Ángeles a los fugitivos Runaways recientemente ha surgido un nuevo Red Hulk, este mató a La Abominación.

Rick Jones se encontró con el Hulk rojo en una base gama, el muchacho, para defenderse, se convirtió involuntariamente en un poderoso monstruo de piel similar a una armadura llamándose A-Bomb (Abomination Bomb, debido al gran parecido que posee Rick Transformado con Emil Blonsky) en la serie de Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H..
